Women, Youth, and Inclusive Economic Growth Program (WYIEGP)

1. Program Description

The Women, Youth, and Inclusive Economic Growth Program (WYIEGP) is designed to empower women and youth, fostering inclusive economic participation and growth. It aims to create opportunities for women-led businesses, youth entrepreneurs, and marginalized groups to engage in key economic sectors by providing access to training, finance, and market opportunities. This program promotes gender equality, youth employment, and social inclusion to drive sustainable development in Sierra Leone.

2. Objectives

  • To empower women and youth in entrepreneurship, leadership, and decision-making roles within local industries.
  • To enhance access to finance for women and youth-owned businesses.
  • To promote inclusive employment and skill-building initiatives targeted at underrepresented groups.
  • To facilitate access to markets and trade for women and youth entrepreneurs.
  • To raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and youth involvement in economic development.
  • To build strong networks between women, youth, and other business stakeholders.

3. Scope

The program focuses on sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, services, and retail, with a particular emphasis on areas where women and youth are underrepresented. It collaborates with women’s business associations, youth organizations, financial institutions, and development partners to implement initiatives that create a level playing field for all.

4. Key Activities

  • Entrepreneurship Training and Capacity Building – Providing women and youth with the skills necessary to start and grow businesses.
  • Access to Finance Programs – Facilitating access to credit, grants, and funding opportunities for women and youth-led businesses.
  • Networking and Mentorship Opportunities – Creating platforms for women and youth entrepreneurs to connect with mentors, industry leaders, and investors.

6. Responsible Department
